May 15, 1864 – The Battle of New Market, Virginia, took place during the Valley Campaign of the spring of 1864 of the American Civil War. A makeshift Confederate army of 4,100 men, which included cadets from the Virginia Military Institute (VMI), defeated Union Major General Franz Sigel and his Army of the Shenandoah during a driving rainstorm.

Filmed on location at the original battlefield, now owned and managed by VMI.

Re-enacting Retro – A well-produced 125th anniversary reenactment film, first released after the May 1989 125th anniversary reenactment. Video Visions shot video footage (on Beta SP and other popular analog formats at the 'era) and produced this video. With Classic Images, they captured almost every event of the 125th anniversary on video for VHS release at the time.

We hope you enjoy. This is another in a series of posts on our YouTube channel from a cool new series of old videos – featured only here – from a personal collection of re-enactments of 1980s films and videos that we don't found nowhere. otherwise, or we tried to find them out of nostalgia, but we dug ourselves and present here the result of our treasure hunt. Some are from VHS originals or DVD transfers of those VHS copies. The originals were in standard definition or recorded on video on television when they were first broadcast. Some were filmed by professionals and others by individuals with “portable” home video cameras on their shoulders.

Some Classic Re-enacting videos are already viewable on YouTube, but we wanted to launch a new series of classics that have rarely or never been seen before, have only been released once, or were short-lived and only available to a few privileged at the time. We hope you enjoy. These programs featured in this RE-ENACTING RETRO series are presented for everyone's enjoyment and we do not claim them for ourselves.
