8 things I wish I knew when I was writing my first novel

Overall, I think the second book was easier than the first for me. This is (I heard) not the usual experience. I think this is partly because I didn't have to work as hard to create the characters (they already existed) and because I had some very strong ideas from the last one.

Yet there were also practical reasons why it was easier… simply because I knew them now. Ways I previously misunderstood the writing process. Here are some of those things.
