Mai Al-Nakib is a Kuwaiti writer and academic. She was born in Kuwait and spent her early years in London, Edinburgh and St. Louis, Missouri. She received her doctorate in English literature from Brown University and is currently an associate professor of English and comparative literature at Kuwait University. Her academic research focuses on cultural politics in the Middle East, with an emphasis on gender, cosmopolitanism and postcolonial issues.
