When a group of interstellar scavengers approach Earth with the intention of kidnapping a few dozen humans and selling them into slavery in the darkest darkness, they make the mistake of going after Steve Stuart and his friends, all veterans. Unprepared to face humans capable of fighting, unaware of the true capabilities of their stolen ships, the scavengers quickly lose control of the ship – and their lives.
For Steve, the captured ship represents a great opportunity to establish a new civilization far from Earth and its increasingly oppressive bureaucracy. But with aliens plotting revenge and human factions wary of the new technology, creating a whole new world will be far from easy…
