Abenaki Warriors versus Puritans of New England: The Ballad of Hannah Duston – Volume 1
March 15, 1697 Haverhill, MA. Thomas Duston is busy working on top of a hill just half a mile from his home. He is working on the new house he is building for his ever-growing family. Six days before, Thomas and his wife Hannah had welcomed Martha into the clan, their twelfth child and the ninth who had yet survived.

The Duston family belonged to the Puritans, a sect of the Church of England that sought to reform the Church and dispel the Roman Catholic influence it increasingly embraced. In the events leading up to the bloody English Civil War, the Puritans strove to form their own colony, where they would be free to practice their faith away from the ruling gaze of King Charles and the bishops.

From 1629 to 1640, more than 21,000 Puritans emigrated to New England, forming the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Although their arrival in this new world brought them the religious freedom they desired, they had placed themselves in a very precarious position, facing the decentralized network of indigenous tribes that populated the northeast.

Added to this clash of cultures was the leader of New France, just north of Quebec. Governor Frontenac instituted policies during King William's War that rewarded the murder, capture, and enslavement of Puritans, all in an effort to secure the fertile lands of North America for the French Empire and its Sun King, Louis XIV.

Caught in the throes of this developing saga for control of North America, Thomas Duston found himself in the unenviable position of facing a raiding party of Wabanaki warriors. With a band of bloodthirsty tribesmen focused on his farm, he must think quickly and try to rescue his family from the fires of this impending enemy.

The story that follows will become legend, a tall tale that requires no exaggeration, it plays out like a colonial version of "Kill Bill," and the revenge delivered is served as cold as the late New Year winter. England where it takes place. place…
