The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is the world's largest film-related organization, with more than 6,000 members among the most accomplished men and women working in film. In addition to the annual Academy Awards, at which members vote to select nominees and winners, the Academy presents a diverse range of public programs, exhibitions and events throughout the year; provides financial support to a wide range of other film-related organizations and efforts; acts as a neutral advocate for the advancement of motion picture technology; and, through its Margaret Herrick Library and Academy Film Archives, collects, preserves, restores, and provides access to films and artifacts related to their histories.
