Almendro Tree of Life – Go Wild
The Almendro tree has to be the most impressive of all the giants of the Costa Rican rainforest. From root to crown, this unique tree provides habitats, shelter and food for an incredible number of creatures. Every time an Almendro goes down, almost the entire community goes down with him, demonstrating the fragility of interdependent systems. A striking example of this principle is the great green macaw. Wherever the tree disappears, the parrot is no longer found.
