For most of history, between when Nikola Tesla and Thomas Alva Edison were respectively doing their thing until the present day, if you asked anyone which of these men was greatest, you would probably have gotten a response similar to “Nikola who?” …I mean, Edison of course? He and God gave us light! That said, if you asked anyone when the two were in their prime, you may have gotten a more mixed answer since, contrary to popular belief, Tesla was in his day one of the the world's most eminent scientists with Edison. At least until the extremely modern age when the internet masses jumped on the Nikola Tesla hype bandwagon and generally vilified Edison as nothing more than a charlatan and someone largely responsible of Tesla's disgrace. But what is the truth here? Were one or even potentially both nothing more than media narcissists who took credit for the work of others? Were one or potentially both truly great men of history?
