ABOUT THE FILM: No Offense was created in response to the attack on Ali Farzat, a Syrian cartoonist whose hands were broken due to his critical portrayal of its president. While Kris Borghs was writing, designing and animating this film, other creators were less fortunate: a Russian had to flee his country for painting Putin in lingerie, a French cartoonist was tried for insulting the Pope, Korea North threatened war over Kim. Jong-Un's taunts and the tragic attack on Charlie Hebdo have raised the level of violence against artists to a terrifying level. This intelligent and witty animation deliberately challenges the limits of free political speech and creative expression in societies around the world.
