Visitors have the opportunity to watch paleontologists discover new fossils in the 17,500 square foot Hubbard Rhino Barn. Visitors can also view museum exhibits on Ashfall animals in its visitor center and chat with researchers as they prepare specimens for study. Interactive exhibits about petrified wood, Nebraska rivers, and the contributions of farmers and amateur paleontologists to Ashfall's history can be found at the Dickinson Fossil Heritage Center. Additionally, visitors can enjoy the natural setting on nearby nature trails, which have been developed to help interpret the geology and flora of the area. Picnic tables are available in the park, and campers can use the nearby Grove Lake Wildlife Management Area.
The paleontological treasure is a joint project of the University of Nebraska State Museum and the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.
