As we get closer to the end of 1863, we have 3 more battles in this episode. The Mine Run campaign took place from November 27 to December 2, 1863 in Orange County, Virginia. General Meade failed to put an end to Lee's army, and operations were halted in the Eastern Theater for the remainder of the year. At the Battle of Ringgold Gap on November 27 in Ringgold, Georgia, the Confederate Army of Tennessee sought safe passage through the gap after retreating from Missionary Ridge. Finally, at the Battle of Fort Sanders on November 29, Confederate Lt. Gen. James Longstreet hoped to break through Union Maj. Gen. Ambrose Burnside's defensive lines.
