Belinda is also a strong proponent of the health benefits of a diet low in carbohydrates and healthy fats and, in recent years, has taken a more central role in defending the LCHF following the investigation into her husband , Dr Gary Fettke, by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA). The investigation focused on Gary's qualifications to give nutritional advice.
This investigation (which lasted over two years) resulted in Gary receiving a “warning” and being informed of it; “In particular, it does not provide specific advice or recommendations regarding nutrition and its relationship to diabetes management or cancer treatment and/or prevention.” Gary was later cleared of all charges and issued a formal apology from AHPRA.
