In 1882, Otto von Bismarck was at the height of his power. He had consolidated his alliance system, linking Austria, Russia and Italy to him. France was isolated and ignored in Europe. And that year, Britain also fell into its net.

The occupation of Egypt in 1882 permanently distanced Britain from France. This left Germany as the only state not actively hostile to London. This was an advantage that Bismarck had no intention of squandering. This video is intended to be a short documentary, showing how the British Prime Minister, Lord Salisbury, tried to escape Bismarck's diplomatic network.
