The American aircraft carrier patrolling the western Pacific Ocean is severely damaged by a surprise salvo of cruise missiles. With the U.S. Pacific Fleet already severely undermanned, the Russian president decides that the American response is a clear indication of their weakness, militarily and politically, and launches a bold plan.
Political unrest spreads across Eastern European states. The Russian Northern Fleet moves quickly into the Mediterranean, the Russian army moves west to the border, and the Russian Baltic and Black Sea fleets are mobilized. In a bold strike, the Russian military is moving to reoccupy large numbers of industrialized areas of the former USSR, while blocking vital sea passages through which the world's oil and natural gas pass. To make matters worse, Russian special forces have equipped all major oil and gas pipelines with explosives. If the United States makes one move to thwart Russia, it will destroy them all. The United States risks disaster if it acts, but the alternative may be worse. Torn between the unthinkable and the impossible, the only possible solution: launch an attack on all fronts simultaneously.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
RICK CAMPBELL is a retired Navy commander who spent over twenty years on multiple submarine tours. On his last mission, he was one of two men whose authorization was required to launch the submarine's nuclear-tipped missiles. Campbell is the author of The Trident Deception, Empire Rising, and Ice Station Nautilus. He and his family live in the greater Washington, DC area.
