We were delighted to meet internationally bestselling crime writer Val McDermid when she was recently here in Oxford for St Hilda's Crime Weekend. As well as being a highly versatile and much admired writer whose books have been translated into many languages, Val McDermid was part of the Man Booker Prize jury which announced the winner earlier this week.
