The residents of Trinity decide to hire a notorious bounty hunter to protect them from a ferocious band of Mexican outlaws terrorizing the area. He discovers that the real person behind the bandits is in the city. A bloody shootout ends the gang's control and returns control of the city to its residents.

/"A BOUNTY KILLER FOR TRINITY is a grim, dark, violent little film that turned out to be better than it probably should have been. It's another one of those very low-budget Italian westerns filmed on dilapidated sets and a familiar gravel pit owned and directed by genre star Gordon Mitchell with his own resources and bare hands that served as the backdrop for about three dozen similar efforts made between about 1970 and 1973, a story that is actually more inspiring than the interchangeable threadbare plots of the films themselves.
Directors like Joe D'amato, Miles Deem, Frank Kramer, and Anthony Ascott used the sets and exterior locations like a Holodeck, creating worlds and locations from scratch. Costs were kept to a minimum through contributions from friends or colleagues to the production team's work or small roles, with a cast of "stock" actors brought in to fill the speaking roles. This week someone would play the gunslinger, next week it would be the Padre or maybe a crooked sheriff.
A BOUNTY KILLER FOR TRINITY is actually one of the better efforts, with /"Jeff Cameron/" cast as a laconic, ruthless and highly effective bounty killer hired by the scheming bigwigs of a nowhere tumbleweed to rid their community emerging scene of some local banditos running the place and making their lives miserable – see also Corbucci's NAVAJO JOE and TOM HORN with Steve McQueen for other examples of this premise. As in most European westerns, the main anti-hero is armed with a clever deadly device (ala Sabata's shotgun pistol) and this time it's a crossbow, with throwing knives, pistols Derringer, a sawed-off shotgun, as well as good old six-guns and Winchester repeaters also come into play depending on what would make for a better shot. Jeff Cameron is very good in the lead role, bringing a sense of disappointment and weariness at having to kill yet another gang of sadistic brutes, with an ending that's actually rather evocative of DIRTY HARRY — He's not not proud of his actions (unlike the wacky Sartana or the ultra cool Clint Eastwood), carries a stack of wanted posters for reference to make sure he's killing the right people and what the going rate is for their heads, and masters the ability to roll a cigarette using tobacco stored in a vest pocket for his performance. The film still has the comic book mentality of a good Anthony Ascott Spaghetti, but the affair is tinged with an air of regret for the loss of life, which is a refreshing change of pace for a genre that usually has a cheerful and sadistic attitude towards violence and death./" Written by Squonkamatic on IMDb.com
