Boris Johnson's Conservative government took over, promising to "take it to the next level", following a landslide election that turned the red wall blue. Over the next two years, the country faced lockdowns, the shockwaves of Brexit and the mass evacuation of British citizens and their allies, as Afghanistan fell after two decades of conflict. With the easing of lockdown restrictions, the U-turn on national insurance and new trade and defense partnerships causing fractures within the international community, we ask in our traditional opening debate of the year: should we have confidence in Her Majesty's government?
