As a sociologist, Klinenberg sheds light on how neighborhood dynamics (what he calls "social infrastructure") can help individuals and communities prepare for extreme weather, including flooding and heat waves. It explains how cities can be wiser and think longer term by planning traditional infrastructure projects that also allow for such social infrastructure in their design.
