At the time of her near-death experience, Karen Thomas was a physical therapist working in Anchorage, Alaska. She injured her back, and during back surgery, the surgeon cut her left common iliac artery, causing her to bleed on the operating table. During her subsequent near-death experience, she observed a surgeon who had been called from his office to try to save her life.
Karen experienced a visit to the Other Side with a spiritual guide and a life review before choosing to return to her body. The surgeon who saved her life confirmed to her what she had seen him do when she arrived at the hospital from his office when she went to his office for follow-up after leaving the hospital . Karen was able to track down this surgeon decades later, and he once again remembered her case and the fact that she had shared her near-death experience with him at that time.
