Confederate Massacre in the West Antietam Woods History Traveler Episode 250
As the fighting in the Battle of Antietam that began in Miller's Cornfield moved south, it moved to an area now known as "the Western Woods." In an effort to take action against the soldiers of Stonewall Jackson's corps, the Union men of Sumner's 2nd Corps moved west. What they didn't know was that a Confederate wave building to the south was about to crash into their left flank.
