A classic tactic used by manipulators is to make unfair accusations. It's a big distraction. When you accuse someone of something or challenge them about their behavior, they will make a serious accusation against you. It's scary and it's often so offensive or threatening that we don't see the truth. And it's when someone tries to accuse you of something, unfairly and unreasonably, that you get a good insight into their own behavior. Because the most likely thing they will accuse you of is something they do themselves, because of a bias/heuristic where you will think of something that easily comes to mind, you won't can't do anything. People will generally make false accusations based on the type of behavior they think about a lot and are familiar with. So if someone accuses you of lying, they are probably lying to you. If they accuse you of cheating, they are probably betraying you, etc.
