In the movie Willy Wonka said that everything you see in the garden is edible. but the truth was that the chocolate river, made of cream and chocolate, smelled so bad on the tray that you couldn't go near it. the flower that Wonka eats in this scene was completely fake and plastic. the directors actually forced him to eat it until filming was over.
the girl who played purple gave up chewing gum because almost all of her teeth fell out from all the cavities she had and the heavy makeup she did on herself in that scene was embedded in her skin and when she returned home, her face remained purple for months. The foam used in this scene was so toxic that all the actors had severe allergic reactions and some of them had to be hospitalized for days.
