The BBC planned to celebrate Doctor Who's 60th anniversary with the creation of an online archive of more than 800 episodes. The network has now confirmed a new series, Tales of the TARDIS, which will launch alongside the new website.

The new spin-off was announced by the BBC, along with the site's new official name, The Whoniverse. From November 1, Whoniverse will be the official name and home for all Doctor Who series and spin-offs on BBC iplayer. This includes Tales of the TARDIS, which is described as "Whoniverse's first original series." This suggests that other new series could be in the works.
