An old friend of the Doctor returns to face his oldest enemies in an all-new full-length audio drama, released today by Big Finish Productions.

Fugitive of the Daleks, a six-part adventure written by Jonathan Morris, stars Maureen O'Brien as an older Vicki alongside the First Doctor (Stephen Noonan), with Nicholas Briggs directing, editing the screenplay and the voice of the Daleks.

Years after ending her journey with the Doctor, Vicki finds herself in the TARDIS. The Doctor desperately needs her help, and she is only too happy to oblige. But in doing so, they both embark on a series of perilous encounters, with the fearsome Daleks never far behind them.

What is the mysterious presence inside the TARDIS? And precisely, what damage do the Daleks and their agents intend to cause throughout Earth's history?

The Doctor and Vicki must use all their cunning and courage to uncover the truth and save the day.

Doctor Who – The First Doctor Adventures: Fugitive of the Daleks is now available for just 22.99 (collector's edition CD box set download) 18.99 (download only), exclusively at www.bigfinish.com.

Producer Mark Wright said: “Bringing Maureen O'Brien back as Vicki who has lived one life but perhaps still yearns for more adventure has been a real joy of producing The First Doctor Adventures.

“Maureen is truly in a class of her own, bringing her wealth of experience, fun-loving spirit and fierce commitment to the work we do. Combining that with Stephen's version of the Doctor in a brilliant storyline is a very special thing.

Writer Jonathan Morris added: “I've written for Maureen O'Brien as Vicki several times before and a lot of what makes her a great companion depends on Maureen's performance. His cheekiness, his courage and his sense of wonder.

“And it was just nice to write for the character, and I knew that Maureen would take what I had written and elevate it. This meant that I could write quite moving and heartfelt things in it, knowing that she would play the scenes with absolute truth and make them much richer.

Praise for the recent First Doctor adventures at Big Finish:

“A diverse mix of unusual, contemporary sci-fi and chilly post-war espionage, it features excellent writing, production and performances, notably from Noonan and Cornelius. Impressive, complex and fun. 9/10 » – Science Fiction Bulletin

“The Incherton Incident is the best story starring Stephen Noonan so far as the First Doctor, and it's here that he feels like he's truly settled back into the role . 10/10. » – Independent Mac user

“I really love the Noonan and Cornelius duo and can’t wait to see where Big Finish takes them next. For now, though, we're left with a tantalizing cliffhanger and the promise of new adventures soon. Recommended." – Qui-Revue
