DYING VICTIMS PRODUCTIONS is proud to present the long-awaited new mini-album from British-German band DUNGEON, Into the Ruins, in CD, 12-inch vinyl and cassette formats.
Originally formed in London, DUNGEON began their conquest of D-beat speed-thrash with an aptly titled demo, Unholy Speed Attack, in 2015. A year later came the English demo Hell, released by the respected Me Saco Un Ojo Records. DUNGEON once again teamed up with Me Saco Un Ojo for the release of the mini-album Purifying Fire in 2018, reaching a peak of intensity and personality.
Today, five long years after that last record, the underworld of DUNGEON returns with another mini-album, and their most defining statement of metalpunk aggression: Into the Ruins. This MLP was recorded live over a squalid weekend in a damp Berlin bunker by engineer Max Hillebrand (Vasseur, Children) in September 2022. With five dirty tracks spread across 22 minutes, Into the Ruins sees DUNGEON descends deeper into destruction, with ever more extreme influences bleeding through. in their sound. Their berserker energies evoke Sodom and violent '80s thrash as well as Morbid Angel, Mercyful Fate and Raped Ass-era Anti Cimex, among other aural terrors, all merging into DUNGEON's signature explosive sound. The Venom/Discharge/Priest foundation is still present, but distorted and perverted to an even greater degree.
Into the Ruins is undoubtedly the work of a single piston pumping unit, but the individual performances are worth noting for their contribution to the (w)black hole. DUNGEON master Luke Drew (ex-Ekrixi) has become an unstoppable force of insane musical magic, his songwriting reaching new heights during the 2020 lockdown. Six-string sadist Daragh Markham (Inhuman Nature, Who Cares? ) brings his nastiest guitar attacks yet. Olivia Airey (Maggot Heart, Raze) proves why she's one of the underground's most sought-after players, with a grimy, undeniable presence throughout MLP. And skin breaker Chris Parker (Venomwolf) maintains these shreds of sanity with his strange instinct of barbaric flair. With Hillebrand at the helm, the full onslaught of DUNGEON's chaotic, destructive and notorious live shows was fully harnessed and unleashed through this recording, resulting in five raw explosions of heavy D-beat metal savagery. A score fitting for the impending collapse of civilization, DUNGEON gives you a glimpse into the ruins.
