We explore the earliest collection of magical texts from the ancient world: the Greek magical papyri (PGMs) and Egyptian demotic spells. The PGM is the largest collection of ancient magic. Written on papyrus, these collections of spells, incantations, and evocations represent the rich cross-pollination between diverse cultures, religious systems, and forms of magic and divination. From Egyptian, Roman, Jewish and Greek cultures and religions emerges an astonishing religious and magical syncretism.
