Emergency radios for survival kits

I might just reveal another weakness in preparing your Bug Out kit here! Are you ready with your communications? No two-way radios; these have high battery demands that you cannot satisfy in your BOK. But transistor radios capable of shortwave.

These little portable radios will be your lifeline to the world after a disaster. I recommend purchasing ones with shortwave and single sideband capabilities and I review several great value models here. The brands presented will be Jameson, Tecsun, CountyComm, Tivdio. All are tiny to be integrated into your BOK and with Lithium AA batteries, very light.

I will show you how I got the hobby of operating long distance ham and shortwave frequencies with these radios. It's a fun hobby. But when you don't have much to do in WROL, it can provide entertainment and valuable insight into what's going on. All the radios reviewed here are chosen for their performance/value ratio and it's amazing how much quality you get for so little. I paid $225 for /"Yacht Boy/" radio airplay in the 90s!
