Encounter of lions and jackals in the Kalahari (Khalagadi)

We visited the Kalahari Desert in December 2007, one afternoon we recorded and photographed this interaction near the Nossob campsite. The jackal approached the male lion, bit his tail and was then chased by a very confused and angry lion.

We don't know if the jackal was brave, stupid or just arrogant.
