Gérard here and today we shave with one of the most popular soaps. Director of Stirling Soap Company. This is a soap inspired by the great niche perfume Creed Aventus.
Blackcurrant, pineapple and bergamot stand out with pretty floral notes in the middle, on a base of oakmoss and musk. It is not a clone of Aventus, but within this family of perfumes.
What can I say, I love this soap. Known as the best value, you get 6 ounces for around $13, which is fantastic for the quality of soap you get. Tallow, lanolin and shea butter make this soap super smooth and very easy to whip into a fantastic lather.
I brushed the best value with soap with the best value with your badger brush. This Yaqi Mountain Lake 2 Band Shaving Brush is a bargain at around 27 on the West Coast shave (as I write this). Comfortable handle, easy to grip and hold, and the bristles on it are fluffy and so easy to create great foam. It's about the same size as the WCS two-tone synthetic brush, but just a bit narrower at 24mm compared to the WCS synthetic brush at 26mm. Also, comparing it to my WCS Deranged Edition Silvertip which is 28mm, you can see the difference in the size and loft of the nub in the brush. That said, find me a two banded shaving brush of this quality for under $30, I'll wait. This is by far the best deal currently on the market.
Finally, I mowed it with the Edwin Jagger DE87 (not DE89 as previously mentioned). Same head as the DE89, same excellent shave. This was one of my beginner shavers and still trims things with a Dorco Prime blade in it (Thanks Eric!)
