Exit Interview: The End of Dillinger's Escape Plan
It's all over now: For two decades, Dillinger's escape plan tore down the seemingly exclusive walls that separated different musical genres to create a furious synergy of their own design. As they steadily took metal and hardcore to new levels of extreme over the course of six albums and multiple EPs, Dillinger were the dictionary definition of danger when it came to live concerts, simultaneously delighting fans and confusing emergency room doctors. The band will now cap off their storied career with three dates (December 27-29) at New York's Terminal 5, joined at various times by Code Orange, Daughters and God Mother, as well as teaming up with Mike Patton for a performance single from their 2002 EP, Irony Is A Dead Scene.

Last week, a middle-aged millionaire had the latest interview with DEP braintrust guitarist Ben Weinman and frontman Greg Puciato. So we've scoured our archives to reveal one of the duo's first interviews after announcing that their 2016 album Dissociation would be their last. Here they discuss their main motivations of the last 20 years; the consequences (physical and psychological) that it takes to be part of this group; why the adage “never say never” is a mistake; and which actors they would like to see playing them when the Hollywood bio-pic of their careers is made. You will laugh. You will smile. You will challenge legions of other groups to take up the torch.
