Fine Press Classics Limited Editions of The Folio Society
The Folio Society presents facsimiles of three highly sought-after masterpieces from the Nonesuch and Golden Cockerel presses, all classics of picture book production, originally published between 1924 and 1926, and sure to become objects collection in its own right.

Each volume is a perfect marriage between a text from the Old Testament and illustrations engraved on wood: the abstractions of Paul Nash evoking the mysteries of Creation recounted in Genesis, the Christ-like figure of David Jones embodying the reluctant prophet of the Book of Jonas and the eroticism of Eric Gill enriching the sensual universe. Song of Songs.

Each volume is accompanied by a four-page essay by Sebastian Carter, formerly of Rampant Lions Press, now editor of Parenthesis, the Journal of the Fine Press Book Association. These essays, specially commissioned for our facsimile editions, provide the essential context of each of the original publications. Solander boxes were designed for our facsimiles. They are bound in colored papers and are inlaid with an engraving taken from the book. The front and back of each solander are covered in gold leaf.

There are only 750 copies of each of these limited editions available, with at least 500 sets of all three books with matching limitation numbers.

The Folio Society produces beautifully designed collector's editions of the world's greatest books, each with unique illustrations or specially researched photographs. Find the books you love on foliosociety.com
