Crime reporter John Jones (Joel McCrea) produces nothing but boring copy. His editor, unhappy with his work, hopes a change of scenery will be what Jones needs to get back on track. Reassigned to Europe as a foreign correspondent, Jones is very disoriented. When he stumbles upon a spy ring, he feels ill-equipped to uncover the truth alone, and he seeks help from the daughter of a handsome politician (Laraine Day) and a courtly English journalist (George Sanders ).
