Former President Donald J. Trump's second impeachment trial DAY THREE, SOLD OUT
House Democrats pressing the Senate to convict former President Trump in his impeachment trial argued Thursday that an acquittal would increase the risk that he would incite violence again in the future.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Mary.), lead impeachment manager, argued that Trump's pattern of incitement, which Democrats say led a mob to attack the Capitol on Jan. 6, would resume s he had to become president again.

/"My dear colleagues, is there a political leader in this room who believes that if the Senate were to one day allow him to return to the Oval Office, Donald Trump would stop inciting violence to achieve his ends? ?/” Raskin asked. /"Would you bet the lives of more police officers on it? Would you bet the safety of your family on it? Would you bet the future of your democracy on it?/"

/ “So if he comes back to power and this happens again, we will have no one to blame but ourselves,” Raskin concluded.

Trump was impeached in the House for inciting the mob attack, endangering lawmakers of both parties and Trump's vice president, Mike Pence, as well as staff, journalists and law enforcement officers of the Capitol.

On Thursday, the final day of their debates, the leaders discussed how, throughout his presidency, Trump has repeatedly sided with or been slow to condemn violent actors like current Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte (right), who punched a journalist while he was introducing himself. for the House in 2017, or the protesters who stormed the Michigan State Capitol to oppose a stay-at-home order last year.

They argued that the pro-Trump mob that stormed the Capitol on January 6 to try to stop Congress from ratifying President Biden's election victory believed he favored stopping the proceedings by the strength.
