Who wants to raise bees? And why? To get the answers, master beekeeper Frank Mortimer takes readers on an eye-opening journey into the secret world of bees and the unique world of his fellow beekeepers. There is the Badger, who introduces Frank to the world of bees; Rusty, a one-eyed septuagenarian bee sting therapist, certain that honey will be the currency of the future after the failure of governments; Scooby the “guy” who meditatively intoxicates himself with the impressive vibrations of his psychedelic-painted hives; and the Berserker, a bee hitman who gives Frank a lesson in rafter training to ward off the harmful influences of an evil queen: "Crush her, crush her, kill, kill, kill!" »

Frank also crosses paths with those he calls the Surgeons (precise and protected), the Cowboys (improvised and unsupervised) and the Poseurs, former cogs of a company, informed on YouTube and ill-prepared for the scathing reality of their new lives. By connecting with this club of disparate but kindred minds, Frank uncovers the centuries-old history of the trade; the practical aspect of its maintenance; what the bees see, think and feel (without emotion but sometimes a little defensive); how they talk and socialize; and what can be done to combat their biggest threats, both human (the anti-beekeeper extremists) and mites (the Varroa destroyer).

With a cast of quirky characters and fascinating facts (was that bee wiggling or festooning?), Frank the Bee Man delivers an informative, funny and galvanizing book about the symbiotic relationship between flower and bee, and between the bee and determined beekeepers. to protect the existence of one of the most attractive and precious creatures on the planet.
