Gareth Brown on his huge debut success, The Book of Doors, and why patience is so important as a writer

Gareth Brown has been writing novels since he was a teenager. His first published novel, The Book of Doors, will be released in the UK (Bantam) and US (William Morrow) in February 2024. Foreign language rights to The Book of Doors have also been sold in nearly twenty other territories, including Germany. Spain, Italy, Netherlands and Hungary.

It was great fun to speak with Gareth and hear about his long writing journey, including why it's so important to be patient as a writer. We talk about the difficulty of not outselling a book, how to overcome such disappointments, and why he thinks The Book of Doors was such a success.
