Gerard Manley Hopkins: Inscape and the Glory of God
Gerard Manley Hopkins lived only a short life and never published a single poem during his lifetime. However, this intense and brilliant Jesuit priest forever revolutionized the way poetry was written and laid the foundation for 20th century poetry.

He is arguably the greatest religious poet of all time, and yet some psychiatrists also believe that no one has written about depression with as penetrating insight as he. He was a true maniacal genius. The theory of “inscape” underpins much of his poetic philosophy and has inspired greats like Tolkien. In this lecture, Tony Golsby-Smith will open up the wonderful world of Hopkins to us.
