Getting hostile about a hostel

The complainant rented a room at the defendant's home, but his clothes were then stolen. He is suing for damages. The defendant says she can't install cameras in the rooms, but she provided a locker with a lock for the plaintiff to store his things in, so it's not his fault he doesn't have it used.
