BOOK DESCRIPTION

Shortlisted for the Crime Writers' Association 2012 New Blood Dagger for Best First Novel

Introducing DS Glyn Capaldi, half Welsh, half Italian, all mavericks. He fell from grace in Cardiff and exiled to become the catch-all detective in the thick middle that God gave the sheep. A place where nothing important is supposed to happen, a place where he is supposed to be able to do little harm.

But trouble has a way of catching up with Capaldi. Six men and a young woman disappear in the night. They don't all reappear. Those who do are good people with a good explanation. Only Capaldi is not convinced.

Facing opposition from the locals, he digs deeper and begins to uncover a web of conflict, betrayal, and depravity that resonates beneath the seemingly calm surface of rural respectability. DS Capaldi is back in the saddle.
