For a TV movie, it's very good. Hopkins spends much of the film acting out scenarios about how his murder trial would go if he killed his wife, with a portrait of his father playing the role of the judge. He uses different methods to kill her and stages the trial until he finds fault with his plan. These solo scenes are a lot of fun and Hopkins plays them masterfully, as you would expect.
