Understanding the ideology of Adolf Hitler provides insight into the mental world of extremist politics that, during the Third Reich, developed explosive energies culminating in World War II and the Holocaust. Too often, the theories underlying National Socialism or Nazism are seen as an irrational mix of ideas. Yet this ideology motivated Hitler's quest for power in 1933, colored everything about the Third Reich, and made him, however briefly, the most powerful leader in the world.
