Honey and Mezcal and Tequila OH MY! Oaxacanite

Created by Ben Long or the John Dory Oyster Bar in Manhattan NYC. The story goes that when Ben Long submitted this drink to his boss Sasha Petraske (who was then a consultant on the cocktail menu), he was not enthusiastic because he was not a big fan of Mezcal in cocktails. He believed that Mezcal tended to overpower other flavors in drinks and generally didn't work very well. But when he tasted this drink, he loved it. Mind Blown and it instantly became a favorite. Sadly, the bar closed in 2019 without explanation and oddly enough, ten days before, the same group closed Hearth & Hound, their Los Angeles restaurant.

Recipe
Oaxacanite
1 ounce (30 ml) mezcal
1 ounce (30 ml) tequila
3/4 oz (20 ml) honey syrup
3/4 oz (20 ml) lime juice
Just 1/2 teaspoon Angostura Bitters
Add the grapefruit zest to the mold (Regal Shake)
Shake/Strain/Cut
