How the climate has marked history, part 1 1 – From the Ice Age to the dawn of humanity – Full documentary
Europe, 60,000 BC. Vast ice sheets cover the earth. Homo sapiens populations have fallen to dangerously low levels: only a few hundred individuals still manage to survive in difficult conditions. The climate is anything but stable and regularly alternates between hot and cold phases. Elaborate timelapse CGI images allow us to witness dramatic changes in the country. Early humans were constantly forced to adapt to changing conditions and find new sources of food. But what is opportunity for some is disaster for others: Neanderthals were well adapted to the cold and struggled to adapt to the disappearance of their traditional careers, while their competitors Homo sapiens triumphed over the changes. Climate change has made history.
