Joseph Addison: On Honor and Cato
Born in 1672, Joseph Addison is an English writer well known for his 1712 tragedy, Cato, which was performed for George Washington's Continental Army at Valley Forge and was a major literary inspiration for many key figures of the American War of Independence.

Honor is the main theme of tragedy. In this video we will discuss honor as it is viewed by three kinds of men: those who have a correct idea of it, those who have an incorrect idea of it, and those who ridicule it as an illusion without value.
