Comments:
/"Charge Over You is the story of a young woman who struggles to find meaning in her life after a series of devastating personal events.

For such a modestly budgeted film, Charge Over You throws most of today's mainstream cinematic garbage out the window. It's a solid, well-told story, coupled with Hollywood-quality cinematography and a strong supporting cast, namely talented newcomer James Lee. The plot twists and turns, making it original and unpredictable, which is a breath of fresh air.

This is director Richard Steenekamp's second feature film, and there's no doubt he'll become a household name in the years to come.

/"Normally, I would have turned this off after the first 20 minutes. But the lead actress, Danya Cox as Sarah, does a very competent job playing a rational but depressed young adult surrounded and somewhat tormented by dark forces and a recent series of problems, including his beloved mother.

We first see the evil Dane, effectively played by James Lee, (apparently a demon in human flesh) appear after the death of a young woman at a party. He materializes at the moment of death, presumably looking for his next victim.

Sarah just saw a friend leaving the party in a body bag… Dane is nearby.

A few days later, Sarah is summoned to a nearby women's dormitory to participate in a session. This is sort of predictable given the tension that builds around Dane's persistent, predatory presence and it plays into Sarah's confusion and depression.

You might think Dane is just a really weird guy. But this is not the case. He is a demon who wanders in search of an "open door" which opens wide when Sarah gives in among the intimidating girls and plays with the ouija board.

Very soon after, Dane appears in his room and when confronted by Sarah, he categorically states that the door was open. It takes a few scenes to realize that the door that was opened was the result of Sarah's unique use of a Ouija board.

It would be funny and kind of stupid, except the director does such a good job of making everything so scary.

As I watch, I keep wondering why this very strange film is being shown on a faith-based channel? This fact attracts me even more. But be careful, this is not a film even remotely suitable for young children.

I had no idea what this movie was about because there were no spoilers or other information to help me, which is why I'm posting a bit of a spoiler.

But no more spoilers here. You'll have to watch this scary movie to find out.

I wouldn't say it's a movie about Christianity by any stretch of the imagination. It's loosely based on the name of God. But without solid theology. Nonetheless, it's a nice movie.

I will also give this movie 8/10./" Written by theethinethou via IMDb.com
