Martin Luther's Battle Against Satan, Part 3 PODCAST
Three years after Martin Luther's publication of the Ninety-five Theses – a shocking attack on the corruption of the Catholic Church and the sale of indulgences – his radically new ideas and brilliant use of the printing press had unleashed chaos in Christianity. Still in Wittenberg under the protection of Frederick III, Luther's increasingly radical beliefs, based on his readings of Christian scriptures, now sought to undermine the entire fabric of the Catholic Church and the theology that shaped the Latin West for centuries. This culminated in his famous Moment of Reformation, which saw his love affair with God reach new heights of exultation. Meanwhile, support for his scandalous ideas grew and Luther's fame grew. With that came the very real danger he was putting himself in and the imminent threat of excommunication. Finally, in August 1518, Luther was summoned to Augsburg to meet Cardinal Thomas Cajetan and have his beliefs examined… would he survive the reckoning to come?
Join Tom and Dominic as they discuss the raging fires of Luther's radical revolution, his defining Reformation moment, and the great Augsburg debate that would see his fervor tested.
