A drug/pharmaceutical medicine is a substance intended for use in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment or prevention of disease.
Pharmaceutical companies do a lot of research and testing in order to make a new drug. Stages include: research, animal testing, human testing, new drug application, and FDA approval.
Most legal drugs fall into two categories: prescription and over-the-counter.
Most medications have side effects. It is always recommended to read the labels of all medications you take and follow the directions, doses and warnings. If you experience any side effects, stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor.
