MEDIEVAL ENGLAND – KINGDOM OF ENGLAND

The Kingdom of England emerged from the gradual unification of the early medieval Anglo-Saxon kingdoms known as the Heptarchy: East Anglia, Mercia, Northumbria, Kent, Essex, Sussex and Wessex.

On July 12, 927, the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms were finally united by King Athelstan to form the Kingdom of England. It was one of the most powerful states in Europe during medieval times.
