Mussolini's mistress kept a detailed diary

Italian dictator Benito Mussolini had relationships with several mistresses – as many as 14 at a time, according to some – but none supported him as ardently as Clara Petacci. Petacci, his favorite lover, kept a diary about her time as Mussolini's mistress that provides an intimate insight into her lover's life and sexual behavior. Although she was never married to Mussolini, she was the woman behind one of the most powerful leaders of the 20th century and died alongside him. even died alongside him.
