Your greatest power is your story. Diaspora Connect empowers our community at home and abroad by demystifying diaspora life for Africans returning home and acting as a resource for our listeners by offering tools for navigating the diaspora as well as mitigating the tensions between Africans and African-Americans through storytelling.

Ngugi Wa Thiongo is the greatest living African author and a world-renowned scholar. Ngũgĩ Wa Thiong'o traveled to Seattle to speak at city hall. One Vibe Africa had the privilege of hosting a FREE community meetup with Ngũgĩ at the Lukinya Fashion House in Kent, WA, where we recorded this Diaspora Connect podcast series which will consist of four parts and a Q&A portion . Stay tuned as we will share this valuable content in the coming weeks!

Thank you to all the Kenyan and African communities and other Mzee supporters who welcomed him to Seattle. Join us in sharing this video and upcoming pieces and subscribe to our YouTube channel for original content fresh from Seattle and Kisumu, Kenya!

About One Vibe Africa:
One Vibe Africa is a Seattle-based nonprofit organization that creates cultural and innovative programs and events to promote the social well-being and economic empowerment of youth in the Manyatta slum in Kisumu, Kenya. One Vibe uses music, visual arts, dance, culture, poetry and film to bring hope to young people suffering from extreme poverty. Through our efforts, we inspire young people to a deeper appreciation of their culture and traditions, inspiring them to reach their highest creative potential. Students are informed of current events and have access to career networks that otherwise would have remained out of their reach. One Vibe Africa is the lead organizer of the annual Madaraka Festival in Seattle, Washington, which raises funds for our efforts in Seattle and Kenya.
