In addition to the fact that the humor itself is funny, the things satirized are very interesting. There is a lot of mockery of basic fantasy tropes, and particularly quest fantasy tropes. More impressive is the unique worldbuilding which depicts a medieval fantasy world with a somewhat modern capitalist society rather than the usual feudal society.
I remember when a group of journalists and comedians were on Jeopardy, and many comedians won in shocking fashion. Pike is in the same league as comedians who know history and dangers like trivia as well as everyone else, while clearly understanding societal structures more than the "experts." He shows his deep societal critiques while making you laugh. And yes, I understand the hilarious irony of making fun of people for doing Jeopardy bad lol
